I found an error message in event viewer as,
"Failed extract of third party root list from auto update cab at: < http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootstl.cap>with error:A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file".
Log name:application
Source :CAP 12 or Crypt32.
Event id : 4107 / 11
Level : error
The above error occurs when i try to download windows update from the site which includes invalid or expired certificate trust list.Below is the proof for this error,
Solution :
Download windows updates from the site which includes trusted or valid security certificates.
cap12 classic error with event id 257:
'The cryptographic services service failed to initialize the catalog database.The ESENT error was: -550.'
